Martin Kernland, Präsident

Martin Kernland

Board member since 2004.

Martin Kernland is a senior software architect at mimacom ag, a company specialized in Enterprise Java and open source technologies, and successfully applying agile methods based on SCRUM.
Prior to mimacom, Martin was Head of R&D, Architect and Senior Engineer at Whitestein Technologies. Martin holds a master degree in computer science and economics from the University of Zurich. He is married and father of two girls.

Jochen Vogele is a Solution Engineer at Credit Suisse AG. He holds a master degree of computer science from the University of Ulm (Germany) and is a certified ethical hacker. His Java career started many years back with Java 1 covering a broad scope of applications and methodologies. Since his move from Bavaria to Switzerland in 2007 the size of his family has doubled.

Silvano Maffeis holds a PhD in computer science and has been a passionate Java middleware developer since 1996. Silvano is founding member of JUGS, as well as CTO and co-founder of Vipera, a mobile solutions software company with offices in Switzerland, Italy, London, Ukraine and UAE. His areas of interest include Java EE and mobile Java development, OSGi servers, Hibernate, fault-tolerance and clustering.

Jakob Magun is Founder and Managing Partner of the Software Engineering Boutique mp technology consulting. He has been involved in IT Technology for over 15 years, focusing on Business Solution Engineering, Software Architecture and Security and Mobile Applications. He previously held the position of Chief Technology Officer at Ergon Informatik. Jakob holds a degree in Computer Science from ETH Zürich.

Corsin Decurtins is a senior software engineer and IT architect at Netcetera. His projects at Netcetera include the development of platform architectures and business-critical transaction systems. He is involved in various customer projects and supports clients with architecture and engineering know-how. Corsin studied computer science and worked as a research assistant at ETH Zurich.

Philipp Oser

Philipp H. Oser is a Lead Architect at ELCA where he architected and lead the development of two Java EE enhancement frameworks, the latest one is available here: http://el4j.sf.net.
He studied Computer Science at ETH Lausanne and at Carnegie Mellon University. His interest lay mainly in framework design, software architecture, and the Java EE.

Edwin Steiner

Edwin Steiner holds a Master Degree in Computer Science and Economics from the University of Zurich. At HP he was leading the design and development of the first secure Java based e-Banking solutions in Switzerland. For more than 10 years he has been involved in the development of multi-tier enterprise-class applications based on Java EE. He is Inventage's CTO and senior consultant for SOA and Application Security.

Micha Kiener

Micha Kiener is responsible for research and innovation at MIMACOM, a world-wide acting company specialized in Enterprise Java and open source technologies and successfully applying agile methods based on SCRUM.
He recently co-founded EDORASWARE, a product company providing a next generation, human centric BPM suite based on open source technologies.

Ruedi Arnold

Ruedi Arnold is a senior software engineer and project manager at Ergon. His main focus lies on mobile applications and business solutions. Besides Ruedi works as a lecturer in computer science at EB Zurich. He studied computer science at ETH Zurich and University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and holds a PhD from ETH Zurich.

Marc Bächinger works with Java since the advent of this popular programming language. Today it is still part of his daily work as a Software Architect at Zühlke Engineering AG. He uses the Java User Group as a vehicle to enlarge his vision about Java and to keep track of the Java ecosystem. As a member of the board he aims for contributing to a vivid local user community for professional people.
