James Strachan is heavily involved in the open source community: he's been an Apache committer for 10 years, was one of the founders of the Apache ActiveMQ, Camel and ServiceMix projects, created the Groovy programming language and a number of other open source projects including Scalate, dom4j & Jaxen and is a committer on a number of projects such as Apache Karaf, Maven, Lift and Jersey. James is currently Software Fellow at FuseSource and has more than 20 years experience in enterprise software development with a background in finance, consulting and middleware.

Babak Vahdat befasst sich seit 14 Jahren mit Java und deren Technologien (JavaSE, JavaEE) und ist als selbstständiger IT-Consultant tätig. Im Rahmen seiner zwei Mandat-Projekten hat er Apache Camel erfolgreich eingesetzt und wird uns in seinem Teil des Vortrags über die Lessons-Learned & Best-Practices dieses Intergrationsframework erzählen. Als Dipl. Inf. Ing. ETH ist er hauptsächlich im IT-Umfeld des schweizerischen Finanzsektors tätig. Enthusiastisch versucht er seinen Manadaten "the best-of-breed software" Lösungen anzubieten. Er ist gleichzeitig ein aktiver Apache Camel Committer und im Camel User Forum unterstützt er tatkräftig die User bei ihren gestellten Fragen.

Riding the Camel into the Cloud

Using Apache Camel to implement enterprise integration patterns in The Cloud using open source. This talk will introduce Apache Camel and an open source project called Fuse Fabric. I will show how you can easily run your integrations in any cluster; be it on your own hardware or a private or public cloud.

Die Integration verschiedener Umsysteme ist ein Hauptthema bei den meisten IT-Projekten. Dasselbe gilt aber auch, wenn es um den Einsatz der dafür relevanten Java-APIs und Technologien geht, wie z.B. JMS, JPA, JTA, etc. Dabei hat man zwei disjunkte Ansätze zur Verfügung:

  • Entweder man implementiert wiederholend "from the scratch" direkt gegen diese APIs bei jedem einzelnen Projekt.
  • Oder man verwendet die bereits angebotenen Komponenten, welche ein Integrationsframework "out of the box" anbietet. Abstraktionsbeispiele dafür sind bei Apache Camel etwa Component, Endpoint, Consumer und Producer.

Diese Session gibt einen Überblick über den konkreten Einsatz von Apache Camel. Anhand zwei Projekten, einem JavaEE Dokumentenmanagement-System und einer JavaSE Grundstück-Informationssystem-Anbindung (siehe https://www.egris.admin.ch/), wird aufgezeigt, wie die zuvor definierten Architekturanforderungen mittels dem Apache Camel Framework technisch umgesetzt worden sind.
