Markus Grieder studied Information Technologies at the University of Applied Sciences in Zürich. He started at Crealogix as Software Engineer in 2001. After working with other Application Servers he was technical project leader for a JBoss migration project. From then, JBoss was part of his daily business. Now his is working as technical consultant for external migration projects to JBoss and he is technical leader of the JBoss competence center at Crealogix.

Christoph Kuhn studied Computer Science at the ETH Zürich. He afterwards worked as a research assistant in the field of Knowledge Based Systems and Electronic Markets at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), where he completed his PhD. In 1997, he joined Crealogix, where he started as a Software Engineer. Now he is a Senior Vice President, account and project manager for large-scale projects.

For several reasons, many companies use JBoss as their target platform for mission critical applications. Moreover, they migrate their mission critical J2EE applications running on commercial proprietary J2EE Application Servers to JBoss.
In this talk, we will present a list of technical items that need to be considered when planning and performing a migration project. This know-how is backed on hands-on experience gained from several migration projects.
